There are more than 79,000 soldiers still Missing in Action (MIA) from World War II, even though it is estimated that 35,000 plus are recoverable and could be repatriated back to American soil.   In addition, there are more than 10,000 buried as unknowns.  There are thousands of families looking for information, crash sites, and burial sites of their loved ones.   WWII Families for the Return of the Missing (WWRM) is a tax exempt, non-profit organization started by families who are seeking information about their lost family members.   WWRM is the only WWII advocacy group that has ever organized to assist families of MIA's since the war ended in 1945.

WWRM's mission is to advocate for the families of the missing.  We also assist them in their efforts to locate missing service members through investigative and research work.  WWRM works world-wide with researchers to interview eyewitnesses, locate and document sites of our missing from WWII.  We then report these known locations to the appropriate US Government Agency with the hope of a possible recover of the missing.

To accomplish our goals for these missing American soldiers and their families we need your support.  There are many ways you can help:

éVolunteer:    We have an urgent need for individuals to help with research.  JPAC has remains in their lab right now from World War II service members.  They are requesting mtDNA from an eligible family member to positively identify them.  Volunteers are currently needed to do genealogical research to find an mtDNA donor for each MIA.  Here is the link to the current JPAC cases from WWII that do not yet have a Family Reference Sample (FRS).  Please send a note to wwiimissing@gmail.com to let us know who you would like to research so we your time is well spent and not duplicating someone else's work.    We also need help identifying American POWs, held in German POW camps of World War II, from photos we received recently.  These men may or may not have been MIAs.   Here is the link to the American POWs page.

Make a financial Donation:   Your donation supports continued research, investigation, interviews, documentation of sites World Wide.   All donations are tax exempt.  Donations should be made out to WWRM and can be sent to:
